Toolkit

If the SHU Fits - Voices from Solitary Confinement

A Resource for Reading and Production

We have created this toolkit in hopes that others will use to do readings of the play in their own communities, whether in theaters, churches, warehouses, schools, or their own living rooms--that is, anywhere that people will listen to these voices, take them to heart, and be moved to take action to end the horrific practice of solitary confinement.

We plan for this to be an evolving set of tools, so with that in mind we suggest the following:

  • Use the tools as you will, change them to fit your needs, improve them or create new ones!
  • Please give us feedback, let us know what works or doesn't and what is missing or needed.
  • Contact us with questions or suggestions.

If you plan to do a reading or production, please let us know ahead of time so we can help you to promote it, and share about it afterward with a report and pictures for this site!

Finally, there are no royalties to do this play. We want it to be seen by as many people as possible. However, if you are able to, we encourage you to make a contribution to our efforts to continue to spread the word! The button below will allow you to make a tax-deductible one-time or recurring donation through Public Works Improvisational Theatre, acting as our fiscal sponsor. The amount is up to you and your ability to pay, but contact us for guidance, and know, that any amount is gratefully accepted.
